Mice may be cute to look at, but only when they’re outside where they belong.
Like their larger cousin, the Norway rat, they are capable of spreading serious diseases such as Murine Typhus, Ricketts, Trichinosis, Hantavirus, Bubonic Plague and Salmonella. Field mice are also the biggest carrier of Lyme ticks in the early spring. If these are brought in on mice, residents face the potential of contracting Lyme disease. If you’ve seen mouse droppings or have heard scurrying in the ceiling at night, mice have likely taken up residence in your home. Treatment should begin at once as mice multiply rapidly. Our treatment program is executed in two parts: 1. First we will inspect the structure for areas where mice are traveling and locate areas where they may be gaining entry. We will then install traps in areas inaccessible to children and pets. We will return in a few days to remove all of these traps and any mice caught. This reduces the population quickly and since these mice are removed, lessens the chance of one dying in the wall somewhere. 2. Upon our second visit, we will install tamper resistant bait stations in areas inaccessible to children and pets. This will control any remaining mice. We will make recommendations for repairs you can make to help keep them out or, if you prefer, we can do minor exclusion work for an additional fee.* Doors, windows or bulkheads left open, even for a short time and cellar windows that are not screened are examples of issues that we would recommend be addressed to prevent future entry.
All of this, trapping, removal and baiting is included in the price you will be quoted over the phone. The service is also under warranty for 6 months. If, after two weeks, you experience any further problems with mice, we will return at no additional charge to take care of the problem. We also offer regular, exterior baiting programs for structures that have chronic problems. This program is more expensive and is only suggested if needed.
If you’re having a problem with mice or would like to take precautions against developing one, please give us a call. You will not be disappointed.
*(Please note: we are not carpenters or masons. If you need major work in these areas, you will need to contact an expert) It is important to note, that mice can get in from areas not always visible to us upon our inspection.
